What is E-Aadhaar Card?
Aadhaar Card is the unique identification provided by the Indian Government to every Indian citizen. Just like there is an official social security number provided to the citizens, in India, Aadhaar cards are provided as an identity proof for Indian citizens only. An E-Aadhaar card is obtained by an individual when he/she applies for it online. It has the same credibility as the Aadhaar Card. The main difference is that Aadhaar card is obtained by post and is sent by UIDAI. This process can take up to 3 months. But once you have your Aadhaar card after going through all the formalities, you do not need to carry around a hard copy of your aadhaar card. You can easily log in to UIDAI and download a PDF copy of your aadhaar card. This will be your E-Aadhaar card. You can conveniently download your E-Aadhaar in a PDF format, get it printed and use it as an official document. It is as valid as the Aadhaar card which you get by postal services.
You can download your E-Aadhaar by logging in UIDAI and providing your Aadhaar number. On the website, you will find a link for downloading Aadhaar card. Actually, this will be your E-Aadhaar card. You have to put in the 12 digit Aadhaar number and a confirmation OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number. After confirming the OTP, you will be able to download a PDF file of your Aadhaar card which will be your E-Aadhaar card.
There is another way to get your E-Aadhaar card. You will have to put in your Virtual ID in the required place on the UIDAI website. Another easy way to download your E-aadhaar card will be by using your enrollment number on UIDAI’s website on the E-aadhaar card generating portal. Your EID that is your enrollment number which is generally provided to every individual before they get their aadhaar card officially. This enrollment number is like a reference number provided to the people by the government. If you do not have your Aadhaar card with you or you have lost it, you do not need to worry. Just log in to UIDAI’s official website and opt for the option where you can download your E-aadhaar card by using your enrollment number. Simply follow the steps mentioned and put in your enrollment number in the required place. This 14 digit enrollment number once entered will generate your E-Aadhaar card.
